Kona Mahuna 29er
If you’re searching for a great bike at a great price, a ride sturdy enough to take you into the world’s great wild spaces one day and for a cruise down Main Street the next, then the Kona Mahuna is all you.
Frame and Fork Features:
The Mahuna is manufactured from 7005 aluminium and also features Kona’s Compact Rear Triangle system. Short chainstays and seatstays provide a perfect balance of stability and power transfer when out of the saddle and pedalling hard. Shorter seatstays also have less deflection during braking and accelerate faster than longer stays. The shorter rear triangle also helps the bike to negotiate tight-twisting sections of trail. Kona’s new Entourage short-travel downhill bike is a good example of an incredibly compact rear triangle. Their goal was to create a bike that was easy to jump and trick, and could also corner aggressively. With seatstays measuring just 415mm, they have created one of the most nimble short travel DH bikes in the industry.
Finally, a pair of Suntour XCT LO 100mm forks and provides the damping to soak up the hits as you travel over the terrain.
Drivetrain, Wheels and Braking:
The Mahuna comes fitted with a mix of SRAM, Avid, and Kona components. SRAM X4 drivetrain components deliver good and reliable shifting and is based around an FSA Dyna Drive triple chainset (44x32x24) chainset and a SRAM PG820 8 speed rear cassette. This gives you 24 gears to play with enabling you to conquer the toughest of climbs and fastest of descents.
The wheels featured are a mix of WTB SX23 rims and Formula hubs. Strong and agile these come fitted with a pair of Maxxis Ikon 29×2.2 tyres that are grippy and carve through the mud with ease.
Stopping you are a set of Avid Elixir 1 brakes and work very well with the Avid G2 180/160mm rotors that come supplied. Awesome stopping power is at your finger tips.
Finishing Kit:
Kona supply the components that round-off the Mahuna in fine style. You have the perfect match at the front with a Kona alloy riser bar and Control stem, which have a pair of Kona Race Light grips fitted for great hand comfort.
You then have a Kona double clamp seat post that features a Kona XC saddle perched on top.

About the Kona brand
Kona Bikes are a specialist bicycle company based in North America, they specialize in high-performance full suspension and hardtail mountain bikes, road racing and touring bicycles.
The company name comes from the owners’ love of Kailua-Kona in Hawaii. Kona started naming its bicycles after Hawaiian places and volcanic names like the Cinder Cone, Explosif, Hei Hei (Hawaiian for “”race””), Hahannah (Hawaiian for “”hot””), Fire Mountain, Hot, Lava Dome and Kilauea (released in 1993 and named after the Hawaiian volcano). Kona was founded in 1988 by Jacob Heilbron, Dan Gerhard and early MTB champion Joe Murray, who has since moved to Voodoo Bikes. Heilbron and Gerhard still own and run the company.
Kona bikes, frames, clothes and accessories all available at Wiggle with massive discounts. Their philosophy is a simple one – building great bikes is not rocket science – it’s knowing where to look for ideas and having the intelligence to be quiet and just listen. Since their very beginning, Kona have been listening to those riders who are continually pushing the definition of what a bike needs to be in order to perform. That’s why Kona has consistently supported and designed for cycling’s top talents.
Kona have found that you can’t build innovation too far in front, nor too far behind what is currently happening at the moment.
Kona innovate when it’s necessary, not when the market dictates. Kona’s cycling products are designed with the focus on a specific task or need. Every item is designed around the culture of its core users.
